Today I wanted talk about The Most Forgotten NBA Star in history, Danny Granger. Been a long time since I heard anyone say that name. Let me know in the comments, who are some other NBA stars that people just forgot. One giveaway winner will be announced at the end of the video. Alright let’s get into it.
Danny Granger was a small forward that was led the Pacers in scoring for 5 seasons from 2007 to 2012. At one point in time, Granger averaged 25.8 points per game and shot 40% from 3 at the age of 25. There were comparisons between Granger and Kobe Bryant. Granger had all the moves, had a mid range, had a post game, could score in an iso, could shoot the three, was the best player on a bad team with defenses designed to stop him, and was clutch. Shane Battier, who was an excellent NBA defender, once said, "When they beat us in Indiana, I guarded him, and I thought I'd done a pretty good job. Then I looked at the stat sheet and saw he had 25." He became an NBA All-star, improving every year. He won the Most Improved Player and was destined for greatness, just like these cases are great with unique and awesome sports designs so check out athletic cases in the description for phone cases. I don’t think they got a Danny Granger case though.
I can see the comments now about other NBA stars and how they are forgotten about, but I look at it like this, there are other players whose names get thrown around here, but are still forgotten to some extent and there like Sidney Moncrief and Brandon Roy. I saw someone call Tracy McGrady forgotten, but all these players are remembered in some way. NBA analysts mention them, videos are made about them, the 2K community has player cards for them. Ain’t nobody really talking about Danny Granger. But why?
Part of that has to do with the fact that he was on the Indiana Pacers. The market for the Pacers wasn’t all that big. Then add in the fact that he was the lone wolf on a bad team although he led them to the playoffs in 2011 and 2012. But worst of all, injuries piled on. Granger first had tendinosis in the 2012-2013 season and missed the first 55 games of the season. The next season, he only appeared in 29 games for the Pacers as a shell of himself averaging 8 points per game as he was dealing with a strained left calf and other injuries dealing with his knees. He was traded to the 76ers for Evan Turner and Lavoy Allen. He was bought out and he signed with the Clippers. After that season, he went to the Heat but never really could play well as he dealt with more knee injuries. He bounced around, never playing anymore games after his time with the Heat. He was waived by the Pistons and that was the end of his NBA career. When Granger went down with injury on the Pacers, it was Paul George who was filled in Granger’s role and he did it well. George became the most improved player and Pacers didn’t lose a step.
With all of this happening, with the Pacers not missing Granger, with Granger slowly fading away with injuries and not putting up numbers, Danny Granger became an afterthought.
It is really sad how injuries derailed Granger’s career. He was a great scorer, working on his game, becoming more and more of a point forward. He was built for the modern NBA. Honestly, the only reason I remember Danny Granger is because of how he was basically another Kobe Bryant in NBA 2K11. I wish more people would acknowledge Granger’s body of work. But I haven’t heard anyone ever mention him, not in a long time and that’s why Danny Granger is the most forgotten NBA star in history. But what do you think? Is he the most forgotten NBA star? Who’s one player that should be given more credit for what they’ve done? Let me know in the comments down below.
Drop a like if you liked this video and to spread the story of Danny Granger so he isn’t the most forgotten player.
